Q & A

How long will my photo session last?

I offer a variety of sessions including Mini sessions, family sessions, engagement sessions, lifestyle newborn sessions and in-studio newborn sessions. Session time varies between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

When will my pictures be ready for me to view?

Time varies due to the amount of photography sessions/weddings I have around the time of your photo shoot. However, it can vary between 2 days and 2 weeks after your session that your images will be edited. We will set up an in-person meeting at my studio to review your images. It is during this meeting that you will place your order. I will give you a wide variety of images to pick from and I can turn images to black and white, color, or sepia at no extra charge!

Is it possible to have my photos in an online gallery?

Yes! I strive to ensure wonderful, personalized customer service for all of my sessions, which is why I have started the in-person viewing and ordering meetings. I understand that sometimes life gets too busy or you have family out of town that would like to see the photos and order some as well.   If you would like to have an online gallery, it is $20 per week. Clients who delay their orders longer than a week can back up the workflow, and negatively impact the level of service I am able to give to my other clients. Due to the number of clients that I have and limited amount of space on my website, every customer is granted 7 days to view your images and place your order. Besides, don't you want your pics ASAP?!! :)

What type of clothing is best for family photo shoots?

Click on 'Information' - 'Photo Session Tips' for a whole lot of info for how to prepare for your session!!

Your clothing should be appropriate for the type of portrait you desire, casual or formal. The clothing selection should reflect your family’s personality.

*Keeping the clothes simple is my most important recommendation. Coordinate for balance, harmony, and color. Subtle shades of color look best.

*Solid colors, either all light or all dark, all the same color or a few different hues of the same color work best. Try to stray away from solid whites.

*Long sleeves, slacks or long skirts are better than sleeveless shirts, short skirts or shorts.

*Everyone should match on the lower half.

*Dress for full-length photographs; include socks and shoes in your preparation. Bare feet always photograph well too!

*Jeans offer a more relaxed look.

How should I get my kids to smile for our photo session?

DON'T TELL THEM TO SAY CHEESE!! Kids have a horrible forced smile when they "say cheese" and they freeze up.... not resulting in the type of pictures I am hoping to create! Acting goofy behind the camera can help them laugh and have natural expressions! I'm not afraid to make a fool of myself in front of your kids just to help you get the pictures you desire! :)

Where are family and engagement photo sessions held and do you have a studio?

My studio is in Newport Kentucky and I also have outdoor sessions in parks and urban areas in the NKY and Cincinnati area. I am all about customizing your photography to fit your style! We will discuss the options for the place of your session so you are in comfortable surroundings. It can be in your backyard or a local park or anywhere you choose!

When should I have my newborn photographed?

The absolute best time to have your newborn baby photographed is within the first 10 days of life. Getting pictures taken this early will ensure your baby will be at its sleepiest state – therefore allowing to mold and fold your baby into all those irresistibly cute poses. Plus, baby acne and cholic has a tendency to develop later, so an earlier appointment offers this added benefit. Although you might be a bit tired, this early appointment will be worth it when you experience a very easy baby photography session and receive a beautiful piece of art.

When should I schedule a photo shoot for my newborn?

Since it's best to have your baby photographed so soon after birth, please make your appointment a few months before your desired session date and time. My schedule does fill up fast!

Where are newborn sessions held?

My studio in Newport Kentucky. Lifestyle Newborn sessions (without props or photography lights) can take place in your home for c-section moms and multiple births.

What do I need for my newborn session to run smoothly?

Before I arrive, keep the diaper loose to prevent diaper lines on your baby’s skin.Keep a pacifier handy, extra food and anything sentimental you want in a shot. Do you want the picture to match your nursery? Keep any matching items you would like in the photos to the session such as a blanket, hat, wrap or stuffed animal. I will have a space heater in the room we will be photographing in to keep your baby (babies) warm.

Do you have a milestone baby plan?

Yes! Click on Information - Membership for more info!

When is the best time to schedule a Maternity Session?

Maternity sessions are best held when you are 35 to 37 weeks pregnant. I would recommend booking earlier in your pregnancy.
